Grasmere
Grasmere is a very pretty old village and lake at the very centre of The Lake District National Park world famous for its associations with the ninteenth century poet William Wordsworth whose various houses are open to look around. We now have several cottages in this area for you to stay in, which are very popular.
Spectacular mountains rise on all sides, including Helvelyn and Fairfield and there are good lower level walks to beautiful places like Easedale Tarn and Rydal Water.
The village is also famous for Grasmere gingerbread, the "rushbearing ceremony" and Grasmere Sports are held every August. It has a lively selection of pubs, eating places, shops and art galleries.
