10/10/2006 - Willow Tree Cottage, Coniston Village Sleeps 2 - 4 (NEW OCTOBER 2006)


Pets are Welcome
A lovely detached "bungalow" style cottage, built about 50 years ago with an enclosed garden, next to an open field and fully refurbished.
Willow Tree Cottage is next to our cottages at The Bridge, near the centre of the village, but tucked away with good mountain views.
All accommodation is on the ground floor.

A Victorian mid-terraced cottage, substantually refurbished.
The small front cottage garden has trees, shrubs, barbeque and garden furniture and receives sun until late in the evening.

The countryside around has excellent walks up the Old Man of Coniston, some of the best mountain bike routes in Cumbria including the Walna Scar Road. Conistonwater is around 20 minutes walk away.

02/06/2006 - Shooting "Buildings that Shaped Britain" for Channel 5 Television


We have been asked by Talkback Thames Television to assist with the making of a new series - "Buildings that shaped Britain".
Philip is seen here with the presenter Professor Steve Parissien and the crew high above The Coppemines Cottages in Red Dell, next to the structure that housed the 47 ft diameter old engine shaft waterwheel.
The programme will be shown on Channnel 5 on a Friday evening in July

A Victorian stone built & cream washed end-terraced property, with a cottage garden & log fire, built about 150 years ago, with a superb view of Coniston Water seen below, on "The Banks".
"Cath" Bank was named after Catherine Barrett, daughter of Victorian Mining Entrepeneur, John Barrett, who through The Coppermines and other ventures provided the wealth & inspiration for the village we know today.
The cottage is in the quieter upper part of the village within easy reach of the village centre and the footpaths to the fells.

The cottage has a lovely garden, with excellent mountain views, especially from the conservatory, and gas cental heating.
It is a short walk from the start of the footpaths to the fells and about 10 minutes walk to the lake.
All the village shops & pubs are just a short level walk away.

The Drawing Room is in the upper part of Sawrey Knotts house, is self contained on one level, and has its own private entrance reached from the upper garden.
Sawrey Knotts is a large attractive mansion built in 1861, converted and expensively refurbished about 5 years ago with fantastic views down to Windermere lake
It has beautiful period furniture and a log fire and is very popular as romantic hideaway for friends or lovers.

Dating back to 1706, this comfortable well equipped cottage has just been completely renovated and refurbished to a high standard.
It is set in the heart of a beautiful mountain valley, very quiet and unspoilt with fascinating walks both high and low in all directions.
The lush wooded valley floor, ablaze with petite Lakeland daffodils in the Spring,is home to a variety of wildlife including red squirrels and wild deer.
Overhead soaring buzzards and ravens are just two of the many species which make this a bird watchers paradise.
Across the part cobbled courtyard, there is a delightful cottage garden, and the owner's land includes a section of the river Duddon, famous for its Salmon and Sea Trout.
