15/09/2007 - NEW - Stables Cottage - Far Sawrey, Nr Hawkshead


This delightful little "upside down" cottage, next to our Hayloft Cottage has a view to Windermere Lake from the sitting room window.
It shares the 3 acre grounds of Sawrey Knotts with its neighbours.

31/08/2007 - Our "new" Veteran truck


We have aquired a 1918 Phoenix 11.9 Tourer "truck" to assist with maintenance and marketing.

On sunny days this 90 year old vehicle can be see outside our offices on The Bridge in Coniston Village.


19/08/2007 - NEW - Brook Cottage - Coniston


Situated in popular Church Beck Close, near the middle of the village this end terraced cottage is near Penny Rigg & Mountain Ash Cottages. The owner has just spent some time having many parts of the cottage refurbished.

31/07/2007 - Cumbria Tourism - Committee Election


Cumbria Tourism is the 'umbrella' for tourism businesses in Cumbria and The Lake District.Its 42 staff help the Government organisation 'Visit Britain' oversee quality inspections, and it promotes staff training, business development and marketing.
There are 2,300 cumbria business members represented on a commercial members committee of 21.
Earlier this year Philip Johnston (The Coppermines) was elected by the members to represent them on this committee.

18/07/2007 - RHS TATTON 2007 - Stand Commendation !


Jenny Thwaites (RHS) presents Phil with the award, with Martin Hodgson (Finance Director Cumbria Tourism) to the left.
Our marquee proved very popular and it was nice to meet up with old friends and introduce The Lakes to new people.
Thanks to all the hard work of the staff from Levens, Muncaster, Honister, The World of Beatrix Potter, Distincly Cumbrian and The Coppermines our marquee was decorated with plants, shrubs and trees and we were one of 34 stands out of 200 to win a commendation from the RHS for our efforts !


08/07/2007 - Tatton Flower Show 2007


"Lake District Reflections"
Once again we are exhibiting at Tatton Park from Wednesday, 18th July to Sunday, 22nd July.
This year we are joining together with four other Lake District enterprises and Cumbria Tourism to sponsor a show garden “Lake District Reflections”.

We shall all have stands in an adjacent Lake District marquee.
As in previous years we shall have a small hospitality area for friends and clients. This year we have stand D19 in the centre of the show, next to Bridgemere Garden World.


07/07/2007 - Coniston Water Festival 2007

This annual event combines traditional water based fun activities with five-a-side football and a unique "It's A Knockout" competition.
Social events and a legendary duck race complete the weekend.
We are proud to sponsor some of the event, including the Big Fat Canoe Race.

08/06/2007 - Chapel Bank House, Coniston Village - NEW FROM SUMMER 2007


A most unusual propety, laid out over three floors to take advantage of the beautiful views to Coniston Water.

Set just above Gateside at the southern edge of the village, it has been cleverly converted from a former Methodist chapel, built in 1859, with a lot of thought and quality detail.

It is very spacious, mainly wood or slate flooring with carpet in the bedrooms. It has gas central heating throughout, and has entrances on two levels, from the upper & lower lanes next to the property.

27/05/2007 - Sailing in The Bell Lawrie Scottich Series 2007 Loch Fyne


"Coppermines" lead the way !
Phil, Alice, Allan and James raced Dark 'n' Stormy to sixth place overall in the Sonata class this weekend.
They are seen here leading the fleet in Race 3, "showing off" our new
"Coppermines" logo on the main and spinnaker.


25/05/2007 - Pelton Wheel cottage - NEW KITCHEN


We have recently fitted a new kitchen in this cottage. It now has slate worktops, ceramic hob, double electric oven, dishwasher, sepatare fridge and freezer.
