A deceptively spacious Victorian mid-terraced cottage in the small hamlet of Torver.
The cottage has been recently re-decorated by to a high standard, in a contemporary style.(2009)
There is a nice small front cottage garden with trees, shrubs, barbeque and garden furniture, which receives sun until late in the evening.
Torver has two good pubs within 2 minutes walk, the Wilson Arms and the Church House, both of which serve good freshly prepared food.
The countryside around has excellent walks up the Old Man of Coniston, some of the best mountain bike routes in Cumbria including the Walna Scar Road, and Coniston Water is also close (20 mins walk).

This substantial detached cottage, is set above the valley floor, on the edge of the forest and has a commanding view of the Torver Valley just above Coniston Water about half a mile away.
Built of stone over 150 years ago for a local quarry manager, it has striking sandstone quoins, very extensive gardens with a very large, old and locally famous, "monkey puzzle tree".
It is surrounded by its own four acres of fields & forest, has a "sun trap" terrace with superb south easterly views and garden furniture - a great place to sun bathe or while away long summer evenings.
Extensively refurbished by the present owners it has aquired a luxurious main bathroom, quality wood floors, rugs, some fitted carpets, victorian stripped pine doors and two period log fires.
It has three reception rooms and two staircases to the first floor.
There are many local valley walks, and the Coniston Fells can be walked from the door.

They are a short walk from both village inns which serve good food and refreshment, and The Coniston Fells and Coniston Water can be reached easily on foot directly from the cottages.
They have spacious shared gardens with views of Coniston Old Man, and original features such as the station platform, now a terrace, and the old railway now a lawn with ornamental ponds.

A quality cottage of much character set on a traditional Lakeland hill farm overlooking the beautiful Woodland Valley just 10 minutes drive from Coniston Village, which is one of the few remailing undiscovered treasures of the area and makes a great base for walkers and families alike.
The farmer is also the local butcher. Locally hand reared fresh meat can be ordered and delivered daily to your cottage.
The famous 16th Century Blacksmith's Arms is just 2 miles away over the hill, serving excellent food and drink. Attractively set around an original farm yard, 300 years ago, the farm also had a water powered corn mill fed by the 'Hole Beck' which still burbles past.
The cottages form part of the reconstructed 17th century miller's cottage and byre (animal house!) which are now very comfortable, have stained pine throughout, fitted carpets, exposed beams, and one has a log fire.
They have paved gardens to the rear, overlooking 'The Hole Beck', and their front to the farmyard forms an attractive sun trap in which to relax and enjoy the life of the farm. The farmer's sheep and cattle graze nearby and the farmyard is home to a family of hens, ducks, farm cats and sheep dog, Sam!
Secure indoor storage is provided suitable for mountain bikes, canoes and dinghies.
There footpaths from Holebeck Farm that give direct access onto the hills and across the valley offering great walks from the door!
