Four Cottages, each self contained, which are able to be interconnected together in various combinations, are in the Old Sawmill shown to the right, and sleep 2 - 26 people.
Another cottage ( No 4 Coppermines - sleep 4) is about 500 yards further down the valley.
For those who love the countryside our cottages offer you the chance to explore the fascination of the fells or to simply relax, unwind, enjoy the clear mountain air and watch the quietly grazing herdwick sheep, beneath a stunning panorama of mountain peaks. Conistonwater can be seen at the foot of the valley, which is reached by a road of pinnel stone construction, little changed from it's original victorian appearance.
Many of the old buildings have now been restored, and our Victorian sawmill has been sympathetically converted to form 4 traditional cottages of quality and character, ideal for couples but sleeping 5 to 8 people.
The cottages can also be ingeniously combined together for families or groups of 11 - 26 people, using extra downstairs passageways and internal doors.
We specialise in weekends for groups which are offered throughout the Autumn, Winter and Spring.
They are most popular for large families and groups of friends who may wish to celebrate that special occasion!
Its now just 20 years since we first created the four main cottages in The Old Sawmill.
They have been recently refurbished, with 10 new bath/shower rooms, (most en-suite) and a new oil fired central heating system.
We are re-photographing these cottages, and more new pictures will appear during 2010, reflecting the improvements we are constantly making the the quality of the cottages.

April 2010 - Due to recent quality improvements the beautiful cottage has now been awarded a VisitBritain Four Star Grading
This smaller Victorian mid-terraced old miners cottage, in what was years ago called "Irish Row", offers an economical alternative to the nearby and larger Coppermines Cottages whilst sharing the same stunning mountain scenery.
The cottage has been extensively and carefully refurbished in recent years and features a cosy wood burning stove, slate floor and wooden ceiling downstairs. Dramatic views of Coniston Old Man rise from the valley in front of the cottage. The cottage is at its most comfortable for two being a small cottage although it can sleep four.
