The Duddon Valley & Broughton in Furness
The Duddon Valley is just to the west of Coniston and is arguably " One of the undiscovered hidden gems" of The Lake District National Park.
Woodland is a beautiful little valley, just south of Coniston on the way to Broughton in Furness.
They both abound with fells, waterfalls, crags and streams; have several very good eating places, and are served well by the little old village of Broughton in Furness at their feet.
For those looking to stay for a while and explore, our two cottages here are ideal to relax and unwind and "get away from it all"
For those looking for traditional country pubs, why not try Blacksmiths Arms at Broughton Mills with excellent food and local beers, the Newfield Inn in the picturesque hamlet of Seathwaite or those looking for the best in real ale the Prince of Wales at Foxfield has it's own award winning brewery.

The Old Millers Cottage is an 18th century stone built lakeland detached millhouse with much character and a host of original features such as the slate flagged floors, oak beams and traditional doors. The cottage is very welcoming, warm & cosy with a charming atmosphere and an ideal retreat for a couple, a family or a group.
The cottage has a large collection of games and DVDs for all the family. The owners have amassed a large collection of books (and don't worry if you have not finished reading a particular book when you leave - you are welcome to take it home with you!)
Nestling at the end of a private narrow lane, on the edge of the old village, this cottage is near to Eccleriggs House with its acres of sweeping golf course & sea views.
There are great family walks from the door in many directions including a beach on the estuary.
Downstairs
Sitting Room, with original beams, log fire, colour t.v. and DVD, cd player Kitchen, fully fitted with rayburn cooker, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a huge range of cook books to capture visitors culinary imagination. Additional Second Sitting/Dinning Room, with colour TV and DVD etc

Bedroom 2 with double bed, TV & DVD & en suite shower room & w.c. Bedroom 3 with large bunk beds for 2 people. Bedroom 4 with twin single beds.

Kids loft den (unheated)great for the family with lots of toys and games - Store for mountain bikes etc. (There are two adult and two childrens bikes that you are most welcome to use during your stay). Large secluded garden with sitting area with garden furniture, sheltered by mature trees, parking for 2 cars next to the cottage, other parking 1/4 mile away at the end of the lane.

The Duddon Valley is a hidden gem, towards the west of The Lake District, and is a place time seems to have passed by. It is full of little stone built farms and cottages, woods and streams, whilst above this history, the Coniston Fells rise majestically.
It has a small village store/post office and a local pub. The little old market town of Broughton in Furness is at the foot of the valley, whist at its head the famous Wrynose & Hardnott passes carry travellers to Langdale and Eskdale.
Fully Detached Brigghouse Cottage, is set in the middle of 300acre Hazel Head Farm, way above the valley floor, amongst fields, crags and streams, is over half a mile away from its nearest neighbour, and is reached by its own well maintained unmade road.
Dating back to the 17th Century it has a Victorian range, exposed beams, original flag floors, stripped pine doors, a traditional enclosed garden, and uninterrupted views of the fells.

Dating back to the 1700's, this comfortable well equipped detached stone built cottage has just been completely renovated and refurbished to a high standard by The National Trust, and its managers, who live nearby.
It is set in the heart of a beautiful mountain valley, at Tongue House Farm, amongst crags & streams, very quiet and unspoilt with fascinating walks both high and low in all directions.
At the foot of the beck from nearby Seathwaite Tarn; "Tarn Foot" is also the breed name of the famous family of award winning Lakeland Fell Ponies bred by the previous tenants, which are still winning prizes at local shows.
Across the part cobbled farmyard, there are views of the valley and the Coniston Fells.

A delightful cottages set in secluded woodland in the beautiful Duddon Valley with good access to the lovely village of Broughton, the popular walking areas of Wasdale and Eskdale and some of the Lake District's favourite tourist attractions such as Muncaster Castle and the Ravenglass & Eskdale steam railway.
The sitting room, with its cosy log burning stove, has french windows overlooking the large cottage garden with a small stream. The cottage has a quirky vernacular feel.
