Windermere

Windermere is the name of both the largest lake and the small village at the end of the railway nearby. Bowness on Windermere is the largest and most popular town near to the ferry leading to Sawrey and Hawkshead.

We now have several cottages for you to stay in within easy reach of Windermere. The foot of the lake at Finsthwaite and Lakeside is quieter and very beautiful, with lovely walks in the wooded landscape.

A couple of miles to the east lie the Winster and Lythe valleys, very unspoilt with lovely country walks to the various old villages, such as Bowland Bridge, whose traditional pubs are famous for excellent food. Windermere lake is well served by ferries and steamers and all watersports are very popular.
