Christmas in The Lakes 2019

Christmas is coming…

Winter is a magical time to visit the Lake District; from snow-capped mountains and frosted fells to glowing shop windows and welcoming pubs with roaring log-fires; there’s no better place to escape to this November and December. And with many of our cosy cottages featuring log-burners or open fires (should you wish to roast any chestnuts on them), a pre-Christmas break in the Lakes can be the perfect antidote to the manic festive rush.

Lakes Beautiful Bluebell Guide: Where to head to spot them this spring

By Rachael Parkin
Every season in the Lake District brings its own unique charms; summer brings scenes of lush green with warm days and hazy evenings; autumn brings crisper air and vistas of burnt gold and orange; winter brings snow-capped mountains and dark nights spent in front of cosy fires but spring is perhaps the most magical of all. With new lambs leaping in the fields our already beautiful landscape is transformed by a carpet of purple, a celebration of colour which loudly declares that winter is well and truly over for another year.

Things to do in The Lakes this October Half Term

by Rachael Parkin

Autumn is the perfect time to visit the Lake District, the ever-changing nature of the season is a wonder to behold and no two days are alike. Take in the magnificent mosaic of colours, dodge the showers by ducking into a warm, welcoming pub and sit back and watch the world transform around you. Cooler days, a spectacular autumnal landscape and fewer crowds also make October the perfect time to spend glorious days walking and cosy evening’s fireside.

A winter wonderland awaits you in the Lake District this festive season!

The Lake District is picturesque all year round, but on a crisp winter’s day when the mountains are snow-capped it really is truly magical.

From Christmas shopping experiences to jolly events and concerts, there is plenty going on in the area this festive season.

Children will love to climb aboard the ‘Santa Express’ at Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway (selected dates from December 2nd), where they will get to meet Father Christmas himself. The jolly fella will also be making appearances at grottos across the county.
