Located down a private, country lane, across a picturesque, slate stone bridge lies Mill Pool Barn. Its quiet and tranquil riverside setting really is the thing that Lake District dreams are made of. With private and secluded gardens, a bubbling beck running alongside, surrounding woodland the property is a haven of tranquillity. The Barn is also a wonderful vantage point for spotting wildlife with a large variety of bird-species frequenting this quiet corner of The Lakes. Mill Pool Barn has the benefit of direct bridleway access in every direction; with the Old Man of Coniston, Coniston Water and village, Beacon Fell, Torver Common & village and the Cumbrian Way all directly accessible from the front door without needing to use a car. There really is no better or more peaceful location for a break in the Lakes.
On entering this stone-built cottage guests are greeted with double height, vaulted ceilings. Several skylights flood the cottage with light. The bright and airy space is neutrally decorated and finished with high quality, bespoke furniture whilst the beautifully crafted and well-equipped kitchen means guests at Mill Pool Barn will find their every need is met.
Mill Pool barn has been thoughtfully and beautifully converted with careful considerations made to its green credentials. The cottage is powered by hydro-electricity generated at The Mill next door while underfloor heating ensures the cottage is always warm and cosy all year round.
Above the generous open plan space comprising the ground floor, a mezzanine level houses a king-size bed. From here guests have the privilege of waking up to uninterrupted views of Coniston Old Man - an absolute dream for walkers or those who simply love to soak up the beautiful mountain views of the Lake District.

Internally
The ground floor of Mill Pool Barn houses the main living area, kitchen and shower room. Upon entering the cottage the wooden barn door leads you to double height entrance space with room for boots, coats and bags. The living area is furnished with a stylish, modern sofa, comfortable arm chair while a pretty window looks out onto the cottage garden and adjacent river. It is equipped with a large, Smart TV with sound bar, a stylish, flame effect electric fire, beautiful & bespoke locally made wooden side tables and useful phone charging station. A comfortable and cosy space to relax and unwind after an adventure filled day in the Lakes.
The stylish kitchen has been finished with herringbone flooring and is fully equipped with an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher and a washer/dryer. A table and chairs complete this modern, bright space making the it the ideal place to prepare and enjoy breakfast before a day's exploring.
In addition to the kitchen and living areas the ground floor contains a door leading to the stylish, tiled shower room with large corner shower, sink and W.C.
Another door leads to a useful, large storage cupboard.
The first floor is accessed by a open stair case and leads to the mezzanine level housing the cottage's sumptuous
king-size bed from which guests can take in the spectacular views of Coniston Old Man through the sky lights.
Externally
To the front of the property sits a pretty al-fresco dining area complete with table and chairs. A small gate leads to the cottage's large lawned area, framed by ancient trees and boasting direct access to the quaint river which gently makes it way alongside the garden. The perfect spot to escape to for some true Lakeland tranquillity and once visited, is never forgotten.
There's also a lockable outhouse offering secure bike storage.

Please note that Mill Pool Barn is a pet free cottage and is unable to accept pets of any kind, including dogs.
The small village of Torver, home to a pub and a small deli, is a short drive or 15 minute walk away (0.9 miles) and is accessible via a quiet footpath.
Due to the open layout of the cottage this property is unable to accept infants.

Local Activities
Torver and the nearby Crake & Woodland Valleys, are beautiful and tranquil areas well worth visiting and exploring. The landscapes here have changed little over time, with farming and forestry still very much in evidence. In springtime the nearby woods that dot the landscape are carpeted with wild garlic and scented bluebells, and away from the noise of the traffic the wildlife and bird song can be truly appreciated. Coniston Water lakeshore can be accessed via a variety of quiet footpaths. Here you can find picturesque places for picnics, paddle-boarding or wild-swimming.
The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists of all abilities who enjoy escaping the central Lakes crowds. Peaks such as the Old Man of Coniston, can be accessed from the area. Should you be looking for something a little less challenging then the idyllic Torver Common or nearby Beacon Tarn are all popular walking spots.
For cycling enthusiasts there are some fantastic trails to be found in the area and the delights of Grizedale Forest are only a short ride away. For runners of all abilities the Lakeland Trail series visits Coniston village yearly offering 5k, 10k, marathon and half marathon options. A favourite events amongst visitors and locals is the annual Coniston 14, 13.9 miles of scenic beauty as runners of all ages lap Coniston Water. For endurance athletes the Montane Lakeland 100 & Lakeland 50 events depart from Coniston each July and a whole host of water sports can be enjoyed down at the boating centre. Lastly for those who come to walk the area, no trip to Coniston would be complete without a climb up the Old Man of Coniston.
