The Duddon Valley Holiday Cottages | Coppermines

The majestic Duddon Valley nearby is an explorer’s paradise and the best part there’s no crowds (shhh)! The drive through the Duddon Valley and over the Wrynose Pass is certainly not to be missed during your time in the area, it offers amazing views across the southern Lake District from one of the most spectacular mountain roads in the UK.

From Seathwaite visitors can visit the Memorial Bridge and stepping stones near the Newfield Inn. Seathwaite Tarn also is nearby, where fly fishing is available with a permit available from the inn. The village of Ulpha and its riverside setting is a favourite amongst locals and visitors during the warmer months. Over 300m of grassy riverside allow those who visit a chance to picnic, relax and wild swim in the various pools and shallows of the river.

The largest town in the area, Broughton-in-Furness dates back to the 11th Century and is situated to the south west of the Coniston Fells making it a great base to explore some of the quieter and most beautiful parts of the Lake District. Just a couple of miles from the village is the small hamlet of Broughton Mills and the highly acclaimed Blacksmith’s Inn that offers great local food and beer.
