The Copper Barn

Originally the The Copper Barn was the copper store for the once working copper mines. 3,000 tonnes of copper ore have passed through this ancient building.

20 wagon loads of copper ore, pulled by horses, were taken from the Copper Barn down into Coniston village every day. From here the copper ore was transported down Coniston Water on barges. After the railway line into Coniston was constructed then later the copper ore was then transported via the railways.

Nowadays the Copper Barn is a rustic, licenced wedding barn providing couples with a unique setting for their wedding ceremony. Surrounded by towering mountains and thundering waterfalls, the Copper Barn offers couples the opportunity to hold their wedding ceremony looking out on the majestic Coniston Old Man.

Seating up to 110 guests, the Copper Barn is available prior to the big day for decorating and styling, ensuring couples can create their own bespoke atmosphere for their most special of days.

The Copper Barn is available for weekend ceremonies if you have booked The Coppermines Mountain Venue for your wedding. It is also avaialble for midweek small weddings and elopements.
