Local Activities
Woodland, Torver and the Duddon Valley, a beautiful and tranquil area well worth visiting and exploring. The landscapes here have changed little over time, with farming and forestry still very much in evidence. In springtime the nearby woods that dot the landscape are carpeted with wild garlic and scented bluebells, and away from the noise of the traffic the wildlife and bird song can be truly appreciated.
The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists of all abilities who enjoy escaping the central Lakes crowds. Peaks such as the Old Man of Coniston, Caw Fell and Greyfriar can all be accessed from the area. Should you be looking for something a little less challenging then the idyllic Lickle Valley, the Dunnerdale Fells and Beacon Tarn are all popular walking spots.

Lovely cottage in the middle of the scenery <3 The area is stunning and it feels cosier and less touristy than the larger towns in the Lakes. Thank you to the host who even gifted us some fresh eggs on our first night. Nice clean pebble beach at Coniston Water. Walking up the slope of the Old Man of Coniston is very feasible getting fantastic views of the top pf the mountain.

Lovely owners, Mr Hutchinson very friendly. Stayed with parents and son. Enjoyed the peace and quiet and surrounding countryside. Love the Lake District! Great central location to travel around the Lakes. Nice walk from the back of the cottage.

Double beds are really comfy. Fantastic accommodation. 12 of us sharing the 2 cottages which was great for us all to get together. The kids loved playing with the chickens. Will definitely be booking again!

Everything about our holiday at Miller's Cottage was absolute perfection, from the moment we booked, right up until just before we had to leave (honestly...the fact that we had to leave at all was the only negative). From the cottage itself, to the attention to little details...we were absolutely thrilled with our holiday, and will be returning in the near future. This holiday has been spot on, and we truly cannot think of how it could possibly be improved upon. We are so excited to come and stay at Miller's Cottage again!

Outstanding cottage where attention to detail was excellent and Mr Hutchinson was very friendly and nice to talk to. Beautiful location, perfect holiday which allowed us to spend quality time together as a family, which we have all really enjoyed, and hope to come back and do again. There are so many fantastic places and so much breathtaking scenery in this area and throughout Cumbria that you will fall in love with, and want to return to time and time again to see and enjoy - a little piece of paradise.

Excellent service from booking through to arrival and post holiday. Mr Hutchinson was a very nice gentleman who made us very welcome. Cottage was beautiful (just what we were looking for), peace and quiet and handy for touring this area of the Lakes. Having travelled many self-catering facilities, it would have been handy to know that the cottage came fully-equipped with absolutely everything you ever needed. We brought the likes of kitchen roll, washing up liquid, kitchen foil, etc, only to find absolutely everything was here - a real pleasure to see, thank you.

Comfortable cottage and everything is no more than 30 mins drive away which suited us. Love the stream out back especially once the kids went to bed. Very relaxing and we will be returning and using the next door with more family now we know more.

Lovely cottage with everything that you would need. Well-situated for days out. Yard very good as other 2 families staying next door so children could play together. Beautiful well-equipped cottage in a stunning location! Very peaceful and remote but not too far away from local amenities/attractions. The in-laws stayed next door in Byre Cottage so the yard was ideal to socialise when the weather allowed. Great walk along the footpath up into the fells which had stunning views and was ideal for the dogs! Loved our stay here, would definitely recommend.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. We have had a brilliant honeymoon here and would recommend to anyone wanting some peace and quiet, with a little noise/activity around the lakes and lovely hillsides. Visit to the Coppermines is well recommended. The waterfalls are not to be missed.

Very neat, well-kept cottage, cosy and practical, enjoyed playing games in the living room. Had family staying next door, so the yard setup was perfect for socialising. Good space for the dog and pretty location. Enjoyed visiting Coniston and also some great mountain walks that don't take too long to drive to.

Fantastic stay supporting husband competing at Lakeland 50. Lots of swimming Coniston Water (and paddle boarding canoeing). Some of us made it up to The Old Man, also went for a lovely walk in Rydal.

Very well-equipped and comfortable cottages (daughter, son-in-law and family were in Byre Cottage) in beautiful area of Lakes. We also had warm (even hot!) sunny weather all week with no rain. Swam at Silecroft (best at or above mid-tide) and Coniston Water (best to walk to pier on west side).

Really enjoyed our weekend at Millers Cottage Coniston. The cottage is quirky my 6 year old loved the bedroom upstairs, she was like a princess in the bed also she loved playing hide and seek in all the cupboards. The owner had lit the fire for our arrival which was lovely I felt relaxed straight away we took our dog he also enjoyed the walk at the side of the cottage we will definitely be back I recommend the steam gondola to Brantwood and sitting outside the pub for lunch was beautiful and dogs are allowed on the boat and pub.
