A delightful cottage for 2, in a quiet yet convenient village location, with a wonderful "secret garden", hidden away with mature trees and neighbouring river - Lake District perfection.

No. 6 The Forge is nestled within a row of cosy terraced cottages, originally built to house the copper miners working in the beautiful valley above in the 19th century. This stone and slate built cottage has the advantageous position of being set back from the hustle and bustle of Coniston, yet is only a few minutes' walk from the village centre. No.6 is a cosy, romantic hideaway made especially for two. Bright and modern this quaint cottage has been lovingly cared for by its owners who have lavished much care on its restoration. There is a secret secluded garden to the rear of the property, perfect for sitting out and admiring the dramatic backdrop of the surrounding fells, along with a tumbling beck to the front.

Ground Floor

Light and bright kitchen area with electric oven & hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher & washer/drier.

First Floor

Outside
No.6 The Forge is home to a very special 'secret garden'. A wildly roaming haven with lawn, trees and wild flowers. A private haven from which to soak in the views, enjoy a summers BBQ or simply run around with the dog.

Originally booked for 4 nights but extended for the rest of the week because the cottage was such a delight. Exceptionally clean and cosy. Ideally suited for pubs, restaurants and shops and of course the wonderful walks and lake. The secret garden was an added bonus for our dog who loved exploring. The welcome pack was also greatly appreciated. There is nothing we can think f that was not included. Very thought out and we would definitely book again.

What a wonderful cottage! Beautifully presented and immaculately clean (hats off to the cleaning crew). This cosy cottage had everything we needed for a fantastic week in Coniston, close to the pubs and shops but tucked away in a quiet corner with loads of great walks straight from the door. The secret garden was a delight and we spent a lovely evening admiring the view and listening to the beck. We loved the welcome package (and hidden wine). It was all much appreciated. Very much recommend this cottage (we didn't want to leave!) Thank you for a wonderful week in the Lakes.

We liked it so much we've booked for next year. Here's why it's two minutes walk to the centre of Coniston. The property is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and maintained, and dog friendly. The wild garden was a really unexpected and tranquil bonus. Great communication with Copper mines and the owners. A bit of useful information - the fridge has a small freezer compartment and the Yewdale Inn did great gluten free fish and chips and had two gluten free beers on draft.

We really enjoyed our stay at #6 Forge Cottage. The property is ideally situated in the Village, close to all the amenities, pubs and restaurants. The property has been renovated to a high standard and is modern and comfortable. We especially liked the secret garden where our two Bulldog’s could roam and chew on plentiful twigs😀

We stayed at 6 Forge Cottages from 17 to 24 May and had a lovely time there. It's our second time staying in the cottage and it didn't disappoint. Lovely furnishings, well stocked kitchen and bathroom (spa standard!!!😊) and the most comfy bed. There are so many beautiful walks from the door that we didn't get in the car until we left.

This was our first stay at No.6 The Forge... What a delightful little cottage. Full credit to the owner for all the personal touches - White company products in the bathroom and the kitchen stocked with milk. Tea, coffee, bread, butter, jam and biscuits etc on arrival. The secret garden was a nice surprise and we even enjoyed washing up while watching the Herdwicks in the field from the kitchen window. A big thank you to The Coppermines Team, always helpful and never had any issues. We have booked many different cottages since 2021 and look forward to using your company in the future.

I would like to congratulate No6 The Forge Coniston for being a lovely comfortable Cottage. The log burner was a real bonus, well equipped for all that we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Comfy sofas, hot power shower, under floor heating in bathroom with gorgeous, complimentary products. Towels were luxury. We highly recommend this Cottage as we parked our car for 5 days and walked everywhere to Coniston water, Crown Inn for a delicious meal, Hardwick cafe was brilliant..friendly staff, quality food loved dogs. Logs purchased from your cheery staff at Coppermines shop. This is a hidden gem.. and we will return. Thanks to the owners for maintaining high standards.

We stayed at 6 The Forge, a one bedroom, terraced cottage, where a small path at the rear leads to a small private wooded area. When we stayed we were blessed with lots of sunshine and took advantage of the areas lovely walks and steam gondola. The cottage itself is well equipped and we found a welcome pack, which included milk, bread, coffee, tea, biscuits, wine, dishwasher tablets, soap powder, white company toiletries. There was also a doggy basket too, blanket, bowl, treats. Great bedroom, with a large comfy bed, nice views out of the windows and a short stroll into town, but nicely tucked away, peaceful and quiet. There wasn't anything negative to say about the cottage or the area, loved our stay here. Great artisan bakery on the front street and we enjoyed a nice Indian takeaway from the local restaurant.
