The areas surrounding Lake Windermere are some of the most picturesque in the Lake District, picture perfect cottages, dreamy landscapes and quaint villages not to mention home to some of the ever popular Lake District hotspots. Loved by Beatrix Potter, it's not hard to fall in love with the area including the villages of Troutbeck, Hawkshead and the surrounding hamlets of High Wray, Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey.
The town of Windermere and the neighbouring Bowness-on-Windermere offers visitors to the Lake District a plethora of activities and past times to enjoy. Take a seat on board one of the lake cruises and explore England's largest lake or simply meander around the endless gift shops and cafes.
At the southern tip of Lake Windermere lies the quaint hamlet of Lakeside which as the name suggests enjoys open access to the lake shore. A favourite for families looking to explore, nearby attractions include the Aquarium of the Lakes, the Lakeland Motor Museum, the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway & Fell Foot Park.

We have stayed at this cottage several times and really love it. It is clean, comfortable, spacious and has an amazing view and gardens.

We had the most enjoyable second stay at the Stable Knotts Farm. We find this lovely cottage has everything you need and we especially love the two large en suite bedrooms. The views of Windermere are wonderful, bus service very convenient nearby and the Queens Head pub is an excellent place to eat - but guests need to book rather than turn up.
I found the Coppermines & Lakes Cottages an easy company to use online and all communications have been timely and very helpful. ThankYou

The cottage was as warm, cosy, clean and welcoming as we remembered. Something that is particularly important at this time of year. Also the washing and drying facilities are very important. We will definitely be returning.

What can we say except amazing and thankyou. A stunning cottage in the perfect location. Beautifully decorated / finished and really appreciated the washing machine. The only negative is that we had to go home! Thank you for the wonderful memories.

What a beautiful and spacious cottage. Surroundings are amazing. We love coming to the Lakes and this was our first visit to Windermere. Where you stay has a massive impact upon your vacation and The Stables definitely made our stay. We hope to return next year with better weather!

We had a wonderful long weekend here. The cottage is perfect; super comfortable with everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast in the sunshine enjoying the view. Recommend the circular walk from Monk Coniston to Tarn Hows. Hope to be back soon.

Lovely cottage in a great location to visit all our favourite parts of the Lakes. We enjoyed to great meals at The Mortal Man and Queens Head, both in nearby Troutbeck. Shame about the weather but we still enjoyed ourselves. Hoping to return next year!

What an amazing view The Stables is lucky to have, and such a great, peaceful location. The Stables has been perfect for us and our 4 and 5 year olds have been very happy here. We haven't been to the Lake District for over 5 years and have loved being back for a short visit from Saudi. It has been lovely seeing the greenery and having some cooler weather! Thanks for a great stay.

First visit to the Lakes and now in love. Our stay at The Stables was a big part of that; the breath-taking views coupled with feeling at home in the cottage made this the perfect break away from the city. We will definitely be recommending this place to others, but not too many as it's unavailable when we want to come back! Already planning our next visit! Thank you for building and renting this lovely place and we will see you again soon. Now for one last walk to Orrest Head.

Lovely break here in the sunshine. Brilliant spacious cottage with gorgeous views. Got lots of photos of the sunsets! Had a nice time pottering around Windermere, Bowness and a day trip to the stunning Aira Force. Hopefully we'll be back in the future! Beds were super soft, huge bathrooms and kitchen well equipped. What's not to love! Thank you.
