Just south of Far Sawrey, and a mile from Near Sawrey and Beatrix Potter's home Hill Top, perched high above the valley with views stretching across to Lake Windermere, proudly stands the large mansion, Sawrey Knotts. Built in 1861 and once home to a Captain Dand, it is now a select number of beautifully converted apartments, each with its own character and charm.

Top Garden Suite is a beautiful, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom holiday apartment with its own outside space. Recently refurbished to a high standard, the cottage features locally purchased textiles and stunning Lake District artwork. With its excellent views, peaceful location and numerous local walks, Top Garden Suite is perfect for couples or perhaps two couples holidaying together, looking for a welcoming and comfortable base from which to venture out and explore the Lake District.

Within close walking proximity to the popular Cuckoo Brow Inn that offers many great local ales and fanatic menu comprising mostly local ingredients.

Inside
A wooden walkway leads from the driveway directly to the glass porch and front door. The bright and airy lounge has comfortable seating for 4 and a fantastic 50" 4k UHD screen Smart TV, plus fibre broadband. There is also a log burning stove to create a warm and cosy atmosphere for evenings spent relaxing fireside.

The galley kitchen features modern appliances including a multi-function induction hob, 14 function oven plus separate warming drawer / slow cooker. A fully integrated dishwasher, the kitchen offers ample storage, a good size fridge with freezer box and all the amenities should you wish to cook at home. The kitchen shares the same view as the lounge, over the rooftops and south over the valley and South East to Windermere, so you can enjoy the lovely sights of Lakeland as you cook. You won't see any cars but you will see trees, birds and silent boats sailing on the lake.

There are two generously-sized bedrooms which both have views over the gardens at the rear of Sawrey Knotts and are equipped with black out curtains. They are also decorated with local photography.

Bedroom 1: Super-king bed or full size 3' twin singles beds. Fantastic built in wardrobe with vanity shelf. Private access to family bathroom, with bath making for a peaceful & relaxing setting for a long soak in the bath. There is also a power shower over the bath, basin and WC.
Bedroom 2: King size bed with modern en suite shower room with basin and W.C. heated towel rail. Fully fitted wardrobe allows for ample storage.

Outside guests will find a lovely and peaceful patio area with bistro table and chairs. From here you can soak up those beautiful views across the grounds and down to Lake Windermere.

Some of the local walks appear in many of Beatrix Potters books, a short walk to Moss Eccles tarn you may well spy Jeremy fisher. Local Activities
The areas surrounding Lake Windermere are some of the most picturesque in the Lake District, picture perfect cottages, dreamy landscapes and quaint villages not to mention home to some of the ever popular Lake District hotspots. Loved by Beatrix Potter, it's not hard to fall in love with the village of Hawkshead and the surrounding hamlets of High Wray, Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey. Away from the crowds who gather at Hill Top, solace can be found on the shores of the nearby Esthwaite Water and Blenheim Tarn.

At the southern tip of Lake Windermere lies the quaint hamlet of Lakeside which as the name suggests enjoys open access to the lake shore. A favourite for families looking to explore, nearby attractions include the Aquarium of the Lakes, the Lakeland Motor Museum, the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway & Fell Foot Park.

The apartment has been refurbished to a high standard. The cleaners should be praised as it was spotless. It is very private with a lovely outside seating area with amazing views. There was constant hot water for a much appreciated bath after walking in the wind and rain. We did not need to light the wood burner as the apartment was toasty warm. Everything was provided for a self-catering stay, with lovely bed linen. We did eat at the Cuckoo Brow one night within walking distance. We can highly recommend this apartment.
