Amazing Local Products Will Make Your Cottage Holiday Unforgettable

Lake District Cottages are the perfect mix of location and amenities for visiting this beautiful part of the world. Blessed with superior natural beauty and rich heritage Cumbria is a region loved by many. If you didn’t know it is also home to a vibrant community of businesses who have built a reputation of excellence, quality and local produce.

Using locally produced food, drinks and products while you are in the Lake District not only ensure you get quality products but also supports our vibrant local producer economy. It is no surprise that Cumbria is home to such products and produce with its traditions and picture-perfect landscape as we take a look as some of the products available.

Lake District Food & Drink Producers

Ranging from hampers to gin liquors there is something for everyone to enjoy. Cumbria is a successful story when it comes to distilling and brewing. There is a vast amount of pure, fresh, and clean water. Using these natural and pure resources outstanding produce can be produced. Our favourite is The Lakes Salted Caramel Vodka Liquor or anything from Shed 1 Gins.

Sarah Nelson’s Grasmere Gingerbread is another firm favourite, often bought from the lovely little shop in Grasmere, but also available in their online store, this is a perfect snack and gift to take home with you.

Sticky Toffee Pudding is a firm favourite in Cumbria and we do recommend you try this while you are in the Lakes (as it tastes so much better eaten here!). Of all the Sticky Toffee Puddings in all the world, Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding is the best, this local award winning pud producer makes other flavours too – how many can you try?

Do you need some chutney with that? The answer to this question is always going to be yes! All the more so if the chutney is from the Hawkshead Relish Company! Also serving up a great range of sweet items (their Salted Caramel Sauce is amazing) and condiments this local firm now has over 60 Great Taste Awards and they deserve them!

Other Local Items

Herdy – Herdwick Sheep are synonymous with the local Lake District landscapes and a local firm has created an entire range of great products around them. With shops across the Lakes and products from Herdy stuffed toys to mugs and plates there is something for everyone in this cool and quirky range.

Bath House – This lovely scented range of bath and body products will make you feel divine. From gin and tonic bath salts to Bergamot and Amber soaps, once tried you will never go back to anything else.

Bronte by the Moon – If you are looking for something cosy then Bronte by the Moon makes warm wool blankets, perfect for picnics or nights under the stars!

When you visit the Lake District it is wonderful to be immersed into the Landscape and by buying locally made and produced items you are also being immersed in the local culture. From buying locally created and crafted products to shopping in the local farm shop, local products will make your cottage holiday amazing.
