Gate House Highly Commended at the Cumbria Tourism Awards

Jubilant celebrations took place yesterday evening at the 15th annual Cumbria Tourism Awards.

Held to celebrate the county’s diverse tourism industry the awards cumulated in a prestigious black tie awards ceremony.

Whilst both The Coppermines Mountain Wedding Venue and Gate House were nominated finalists in two of the evenings categories, Gate House was awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate in the Self-Catering Holiday Property of The Year category – a fantastic achievement following just 12 months of holiday lettings.

Situated in Coniston village in the heart of the picturesque English Lake District, Gate House is a magnificent Visit England ‘5 Star Gold’ Georgian property with local artistic historical links. Once home to the famous Lakes artist Alfred Heaton Cooper in the early 20th century, this completely refurbished property which comfortably sleeps 8 is now the epitome of an exceptional Lakeland home.

To be named a finalist and walk away with a commendation in this category is a testament to the sheer determination and dedication of the owners (Jane & Simon) and their drive to create a truly unique and luxurious Lakeland Home, once visited never forgotten.

Don’t just take our word for it…

“Lovely cottage, more than you could want in terms of equipment, space and furnishings. So nicely refurbished. Had a brilliant 50th weekend with family, meal at Steam Bistro was fab as always!”

“Returned to this beautiful house for a second time since renovation. Perfect location for walks from the door every day and handy for food & drinks in the village. Weather has been beautiful all week – perfect! Will be returning to celebrate our family Christmas here as we did last year!”

“Beautiful house, we came here a few times before restoration work but now WOW! It used to be pretty good but now it’s exceptionally appointed, 4 en suites is great, rear garden area is perfect in very sunny weather, which we’ve had all week. Thank you, we will return.”

“What a gorgeous house – love the attention to detail! I edit a travel mag and will happily recommend it to all of my readers!”

“We have had a wonderful week staying in the beautiful Gate House. It is every bit as wonderful as the website suggests and the owners really have thought about everything. We very much hope to return!”

“This house is beautiful in every way and deserves its 5 star rating. We have had a fabulous week here, perfect weather. This property is the best we have stayed in. Thank you so much for letting us share your beautiful property. We will be back.”

Gate House is available to book for full week, midweek and weekend breaks.
