How to Experience Mindfulness in the Lake District

The Lake District is one of the most naturally beautiful and calming destinations to visit here in the UK. There are so many hidden gems to be found when enjoying the picturesque landscape in the heart of Cumbria. The lakes and mountains have so much history and provide you with an opportunity to experience peace and tranquillity.

These are just a few of the reasons why you should plan your next trip to the Lake District. In times like this everyone is finding it particularly difficult to adjust to their new lifestyle and our mental health is taking one of the biggest hits. Keeping your body and mind at one while enjoying your surroundings is one of the best ways to practice mindfulness. If you need to get away and take some time to yourself, why not consider taking a trip to the Lake District where you can truly relax.

Boot camps and Retreats

Mindfulness is a key topic at the moment and some companies have created getaways and retreats that let you fully indulge yourself while meeting others in the same situation as you. These retreats are equally aimed at beginners or can include a more intensive plan for the people who have experienced a retreat before. Getaways can provide a great boost of energy and time to focus on your next steps in life. There are also boot camps that are fitness related for people who feel they need that extra push or for those who just don’t want to leave their exercise regime at home. From gentle walks with breath-taking scenery to the steep mountainside runs the Lake District can supply it all.

Pamper days

Very little can provide you with the relaxation and pampering from a soothing massage and relaxing spa day. The only thing topping this, is a trip to a spa with an incredible view. Taking time away from everything, and relaxing in a sauna, are great ways to practice mindfulness. In the Lake District, there are many luxury 5-star hotels and spa facilities that will allow you to put your electronics away and truly focus of the greater thing in life. Spending a few days away enjoying some greatly needed downtime can help improve overall mental health and provide a positive platform to help you reengage back into a normal routine and daily life.

Yoga and Meditation

While looking into a holiday and mindfulness activities in the Lake District you won’t struggle to find yoga sessions, they are everywhere. With the best backdrop anyone could ask for, stretching or meditating has never looked so appealing. Yoga and meditation have been proven to help you handle negative thoughts and emotions with the ultimate goal of feeling relaxed and at peace with yourself. Achieving mindfulness has never been so easy, as the Lakes provide are so many places to sit and relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy cities and towns.

Cycle trails

Some of the best cycle trails can be found in and around the Lake District, whether you prefer a challenging mountain bike trail or a relaxing path trail along the edge of the water, there is something for everyone. Cycling can allow for an open-minded experience. It can be easy to overthink things whilst walking or running, but there is a lot more to focus on while cycling, and this can really help some people to relax and find stillness. Windermere Western Shore (8 miles return) is a great place to explore by bike and is suitable for beginners. Whereas Nan Bield Pass is a hard challenge for even the best of cyclist, as it requires a lot of effort, however it rewards you with some incredible views and an extreme rush of serotonin.

If you feel that you could benefit from a long weekend, or a relaxing break to help you achieve mindfulness and improve your wellbeing, consider a trip away to the stunning Lake District.
