Muncaster Castle Weapons Hall – do you have what it takes to become a Muncaster Knight?
You can now get seriously medieval at Muncaster Castle. In their new attraction, The Weapon’s Hall, wannabe knights can learn combat sword skills, discover to axe-throw like a viking, fire a cross-bow like a middle-ages pro and acquire some admiral archery abilities.
Perfect for stag or hen parties, groups or families with older children looking for new and exhilarating medieval experiences, The Weapons Hall even features mechanical horses, so the newly knighted can practice their jousting skills.
Opened in March 2024, The Weapon’s Hall is an indoor arena consisting of purpose-built weapon ranges, making it an exciting place to visit all year round.
Weapon’s training is thirsty work. Fortunately, The Weapon’s Hall is also home to the Medieval Tavern, which serves a selection of (thankfully modern) soft and alcoholic drinks as well as coffee.
And after you’ve completed your knight’s training there is the fascinating, and supposedly haunted, Muncaster Castle to explore as well as its beautiful gardens. Not to be missed is the Hawk and Owl Centre, which puts on spectacular flying displays twice daily during high season.
Think you up to the challenge of becoming a Knight of Muncaster? We had an amazing time on our visit so why not head over to Muncaster on your next trip to the Lakes.
Shining armour is optional (tracksuits also acceptable). Age restrictions apply so please check Muncaster’s Weapon’s Hall website for further details and booking information.
Muncaster Castle is around 45 minutes from Coniston by car. Pre-booking is recommended.
