Not seen your old friends in a while? Why not catch up over a weekend full of adventure in the Lake District?

Many of us are guilty of letting life whizz by, getting caught up in the day-to-day and putting those reunions we once promised at the bottom of the priority list.

“We’ll all meet up,” is said full of enthusiasm but the years go by and your interaction with old school / college / university friends becomes limited to social media.

Well why not take the plunge this year and take a trip to the Lake District, where there are a host of activities guaranteed to have you howling with laughter in no time. Fun will be top of the list if you get the group onto an Adventure 21 activity day – an ideal way to bond with your chums.

Making the most of the fabulous Lakeland landscape, the action-packed experience could see you canoeing on Coniston Water, and / or scrambling and abseiling.

Of course when coming to the Lake District you won’t be short of walks to choose from – Coniston Old Man and Dow Crag form the dramatic backdrop to the village, and the views from the top are outstanding.

Or hire some electric bikes from the Coniston Boating Centre for a ride with a bit of a zoom but a tad less effort. Take your pick from lots of exhilarating routes – follow the undulating lakeshore under a canopy of trees, cycle around the beauty spot of Tarn Hows or whizz through quiet lanes, making sure you stop off at a Lakeland pub on the journey.

You could even fly through the trees at TreeTop Treks, near Windermere. With more than 35 treetop challenges on the high ropes course, you will swing, balance and fly your way through the ancient woodland canopy, with the chance to race each other down the 250m zip wires at the end.

To complete your ‘adventure break’ come and stay in our Coppermines Mountain Cottages, set high in the fells for a true countryside experience (with the added luxury of private hot tubs!!).

The original Victorian sawmill has been sympathetically converted to form four traditional cottages of quality and character, which can be ingeniously interlinked to sleep up to 22 people.

Simply enjoy the clear mountain air as you chill out and catch-up beneath the stunning panorama of mountain peaks.

If you feel happier being closer to the comforts of the village centre, then why not take a look at Gate House, Cherry Tree, Low How, Beckside and the Bridge Cottages – all great places to stay.

Just a stone’s throw from Coniston centre but still pleasantly secluded and peaceful, these cottages can accommodate various group sizes from 8-16 with plenty of space to laze about and relax, private gardens, hot tubs and barbecues, they are fabulous for celebrations or reunions.
