The advantages of a self-guided walking holiday in the Lakes

If spending your holiday lying horizontal at the pool just isn’t your thing, or if you long for getting out about in the spectacular Lake District countryside but don’t know quite where to start – then consider a self-guided walking and adventure holiday in the Lake District.

Whether you’re staying for a weekend, midweek break or full week’s holiday we can provide you with walking and adventure itinerary to help you get the most out of your stay in the Lakes.

Our self-guided walking holidays are based in Coniston Village. And the best thing about them is that your car can have a holiday too.

We have up to 7 days itinerary, all based directly from Coniston village – so you can park up on arrival and leave your car untouched during your break.

That means no stressful holiday traffic, no expensive or hard-to-find parking and no navigating narrow country lanes or white-knuckle mountain passes. Simply lace up your boots and stride out from your cottage door.

Our itinerary includes half day or full day walks categorised by easiness or difficultness, so you can tailor your holiday to your requirement, abilities or to the weather conditions. You can choose to spend every day of your holiday walking, or you can kick-back and relax on as many rest days as you like! On a self-guided walking holiday, you have the ultimate freedom to walk as much, or as little, as you choose. No gruelling schedules, no jostling for position in a large group – simply the ultimate freedom to walk your own way at your own pace.

And after a morning, afternoon or full day walking, all our walks return to Coniston – where there is a fantastic choice of places to eat.

Or you could choose to cook in your fully equipped cottage kitchen and enjoy an alfresco meal in your own private cottage garden, or inside in front of a roaring log fire.

Some of our cottages even come with hot tubs – the perfect way to soothe and relax tired muscles after a day exploring.

And because we are locally owned, and locally based right here in the Lake District, all of our self-guided walks were researched and compiled by our local team, utilising our own experiences of amazing walks in our wonderful area.

Furthermore, we’ve made our self-guided walking itineraries FREE for all Coppermines guests. So that’s all our local knowledge and expertise at your disposal for no extra charge.
