Heading to the Lake District National Park this October half term?

October is very special here in the Lake District – and we think it’s the most beautiful of all the seasons. During an autumnal break in the Lakes, there’s plenty to see and do while the scenery is at it’s most breath-taking. Enjoy a family walk around Tarn Hows or Grizedale Forest,  take in the incredible tapestry of autumnal colours from a lake cruise or explore charming villages and quaint hamlets.

There are also lots of special events taking place throughout the half term. So there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained this October. Here are some of the highlights of family days out in the Lakes for half term, October 2024

Muncaster Castle

Halloween Family Festival 26th October – 3rd November

From dawn till dusk, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, ensuring a spooktacular experience for all ages. The Muncaster Halloween Family Festival has evolved and expanded over the years, and in 2024, it returns, bigger and better than ever before, with a thrilling new theme: Vampires! The Castle Show this year is Dracula! Embark on an enchanting theatrical tour through the castle, filled with engaging stories, lively songs, dance and just the right amount of spooky fun. Scarecaster at Muncaster 31st October, 1st & 2nd of November

Fear returns to Muncaster with a vengeance this year. Do you have the courage to confront the horrors within the terrifying maze? Step into the darkness – if you dare – and discover if you can survive the terror that awaits at every turn.

As you navigate the darkened pathways,  monsters, zombies, and ghosts will be lurking.

When you need a breather, find refuge in the Stable Yard Sanctuary, where live music, tantalizing food, and a fully stocked bar await.

The night is long, and the ghosts are waiting…

Lakeland Maze Farm Park

Pumpkin Patch – From 12th October

This October families can tackle the mini mazes and meet the animals at the Farm Park including, cows, sheep, pigs, there are also ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, llamas, alpacas, goats, ponies and donkeys. From 12th October each paying child can choose ONE pumpkin for FREE from the Pumpkin Patch. Find out more
