Badger's Cottage is located in an elevated position at Coniston Water. The views of the lake and the mountains beyond are nothing short of break-taking. The village of Coniston, and all its great pubs, friendly cafes and lovely local shops are just 1.5 miles away.
Local Activities
Coniston is an excellent centre for outdoor enthusiasts, with some superb climbing, walking, water sports, fishing and cycling to be had all year round.
For cycling enthusiasts there are some fantastic trails to be found in the area and the delights of Grizedale Forest are only a short ride away. For runners of all abilities the Lakeland Trail series visits Coniston yearly offering 5k, 10k, marathon and half marathon options. A favourite event amongst visitors and locals is the annual Coniston 14, 13.9 miles of scenic beauty as runners of all ages lap Coniston Water. For endurance athletes the Montane Lakeland 100 & Lakeland 50 events depart from Coniston each July and a whole host of water sports can be enjoyed down at the boating centre. Lastly for those who come to walk the area, no trip to Coniston would be complete without a climb up the Old Man of Coniston.
For those who like to keep their feet firmly on the ground there's The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell. A mile down the road, on the eastern shores of the lake, lies Brantwood, the home of Victorian philosopher John Ruskin. Open to visitors and with a new cafe, regular events and art courses are held here. Should you just wish to relax during your Lake District sojourn then the tremendous landscape of cascading waterfalls, streams, lakes and mountains should help you switch off from modern life. Delights such as Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest are nearby and prove to be ever popular with visitors of all ages.

We absolutely loved our stay here, the view is incredible and the cottage was very clean and well-kept. The owners were kind and welcoming when we arrived, they accommodated us even when we booked on such short notice (30 minutes prior). Overall, cosy and well equipped. PS - looks even better than on the pictures.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in Badgers Cottage this last week. The cottage is very well equipped, furnished, and warm. We love the view towards the lake and the Old Man. We hope it won't be too long before we are able to return!

The cottage was well maintained, spotlessly clean and in a great location. We could not fault the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We took a Coppermines brochure home with us and recommended Badger cottage and Mole cottage to a colleague and they have booked Mole cottage.

This is the third year we have stayed at Badger’s Cottage, so we obviously love it. The views across Coniston Water to the Old Man, Wetherlam, and the Yewdale fells are second to none. The cottage faces west, so you can enjoy the sunshine until it sets. ( Yes, the sun often shines in The Lake District )
Badger’s is clean, cosy, and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. The beautifully landscaped garden is especially lovely in spring when the rhododendron are in bloom.

A really lovely stay in an extremely well appointed cottage. All equipment and furnishings in very good order and kitchen very well equipped. Loved the outlook and sitting on the patio listening to the constant hum of the bees in the geraniums was idyllic. We were sad to leave!!
