Mole's Cottage is located at Coniston Water, The Lake District. It boasts incredible views of the lake and across to The Old Man of Coniston and other magnificent Coniston Fells. Its location is peaceful, tranquil perfection. Plus it's just 1.5 miles away from Coniston Village, with its numerous great pubs, friendly cafes, local shops and popular boating centre from which you can hire a boat or hop on a lake cruise. The ideal setting for any romantic break in the Lakes
Local Area
Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. The village is packed with friendly pubs, local shops and lively cafes and there is incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing and more. There are also plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming including the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with its stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. For cyclists, there's spectacular off-road mountain biking trails including those at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as some stunning road routes through some of the country's most beautiful scenery.
For those who enjoy a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell is a must visit. While on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood, the Victorian home of John Ruskin, where visitors can explore the historic house and vibrant arts centre and enjoy some delicious food from The Terrace cafe with its breath-taking lake and mountain views.
The wider Lake District area is also very easily accessible from Coniston, with popular destinations such as Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere just a short drive away.
In short, Coniston offers everything you could possibly want of a Lake District holiday - all right on your doorstep.

Hi team. We have loved it. Moles Cottage is perfect for a peaceful holiday. The cottage is so clean, well equipped, big comfy bed. Nothing to fault - we've absolutely loved it and will be booking again.

We loved the view, but not the weather, I'm sure the walk into the village wouldn't have felt so long if it had been warmer. Well equipped cottage, decorated well, cosy warm (crazy to say this for a July booking). Comfortable bed, great shower.

Everything was absolutely spot on. Very comfortable bed, lovely kitchen and bathroom. Patio ideally located to enjoy the views and Lake District environment. Short walk to catch the bus so no need to use the car if you don't want.

This was my second stay in Mole's Cottage. I had returned as I already knew that it was a very nice cottage, and it was in a good location for a walking holiday. It was even more important to have somewhere lovely to stay this time, as the weather was poor and more time had to be spent indoors. I particularly enjoyed sitting in the sun room and looking at the views.

We very much enjoyed our week at Mole's Cottage. The views are wonderful wherever you look,with great access to the lake and many walks from the doorstep. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. I appreciated that everything was in an immaculate condition and the furnishings of a very high standard.
