Just 10 minutes' drive from Coniston village, Byre Cottage & Millers Cottage are two recently refurbished neighbouring cottages on a working Lakeland farm. With a combined total of 6 bedrooms, log fires & rural views they are the ultimate rural retreats, perfect for groups or families holidaying together.

Lovingly reconstructed from the original 17th century byre, these twin, self-contained cottages offer cosy yet comfortable rooms with rustic exposed beams, log fires and countryside views.

Access to the cottages is gained through the main farmyard, dotted with blossoming flowers during the spring & summer months. Inside are modern kitchens, stylish bedrooms and homely touches, while outside there's space for dining and relaxing.

Byre and Millers are perfect for those looking to experience a glimpse of traditional Lakeland life. Sleeping 12 guests comfortably, the cottages make a great base for families, groups outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and those wishing to simply switch off from the busy day-to-day and escape to a rural retreat.

Local Activities

Woodland, Torver and the Duddon Valley, a beautiful and tranquil area well worth visiting and exploring. The landscapes here have changed little over time, with farming and forestry still very much in evidence. In springtime the nearby woods that dot the landscape are carpeted with wild garlic and scented bluebells, and away from the noise of the traffic the wildlife and bird song can be truly appreciated.
The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists of all abilities who enjoy escaping the central Lakes crowds. Peaks such as the Old Man of Coniston, Caw Fell and Grey Friar can all be accessed from the area. Should you be looking for something a little less challenging then the idyllic Lickle Valley, the Dunnerdale Fells and Beacon Tarn are all popular walking spots.

The cottages are beautiful, love the shared patio too. Both cottages were well-equipped and very homely. The emails sent from the office were pleasant, helpful and timely. Nothing was too much trouble. Well done and thank you.

Beautiful cottages in a beautiful spot in the Lake District. Cottages were cosy and well furnished. They were lovely and warm with a fire in both living rooms. A lovely big living room in Miller's Cottage for the whole party to gather in. Peaceful surroundings with Torver and Coniston within an easy drive. There were no amenities within an easy walk but we know that going in and wasn't a problem for us. All in all I'd definitely recommend.
