With the Old Man of Coniston above and Coniston Water below, the location is as perfect as the cottage itself. Guests looking for adventure will find ample storage for bikes and SUPs.
Those wanting a holiday from driving can leave their car on the private driveway and enjoy world-famous hiking routes, water sports and cycling trails straight from the door. At the end of the day, relax and unwind in the comfy sofas, or soak your muscles in the luxurious bath – bliss!
Ground Floor
The spacious hallway has ample storage for coats and shoes. Off the hall you will find a utility room conveniently located by the entrance with additional hanging space – perfect for storing and drying your wet-weather gear. The utility room also houses a Samsung washer/dryer, under-counter freezer and sink. Through the utility is a stylish W.C. with sink and heated towel rail.
Step across the hallway from the utility room into the high-spec kitchen/dining room. A cosy yet spacious room with views to the rugged Cumbrian fells to the front. The solid wood dining table has seating for 4 hungry guests. Keen cooks will find Nirvana in the well-equipped kitchen, complete with Miele fridge and dishwasher, large Rangemaster induction cooker, microwave, and DAB radio. It’s the ideal place to have your delicious, home-cooked dinner whilst you relive the day’s adventures.
Back across the central hallway leads to the cottage’s lounge with attractive bay window with views onto the pretty garden. The living space features plump sofas and armchairs and a huge Smart TV, all focused around a log-burning stove, which will only enhance the cosy, contented feeling you will experience after a day of making memories in the Lakes. Peek in the cupboard under the stairs and you will find a library of local books and walking maps, hand-picked by the cottage’s knowledgeable owners, all designed to help you make the most of your visit to the National Park.

A staircase from the central hallway leads to the upstairs of this splendid property. From the landing you have the choice of 2 equally appointed and beautifully finished, ensuite bedrooms. Each luxuriously furnished with a sumptuous king-size bed complete with
Herdy mattress.

Springbank Cottage’s inviting gardens are a secluded oasis, perfect for relaxing with a book and a glass of wine. Lovingly landscaped using mature planting, stunning Lakeland slate and stone reclaimed locally from nearby Gate House, the garden has bags of charm and character. The spacious stone patio, with its table and seating for 6, is made for alfresco dining.
Paddleboards, bikes and canoes can be securely stored in the cottage’s detached garage.

Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. The village is packed with friendly pubs, local shops and lively cafes and there is incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and more. There are also plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming including the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with its stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. For cyclists, there are spectacular off-road mountain biking trails including those at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as some stunning road routes through some of the country's most beautiful scenery.
For those who enjoy a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell is a must visit. While on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood, the Victorian home of John Ruskin, where visitors can explore the historic house and vibrant arts centre and enjoy some delicious food from The Terrace cafe with its breath-taking lake and mountain views.
The wider Lake District area is also very easily accessible from Coniston, with popular destinations such as Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere just a short drive away.
