For those who love the countryside The Coppermines Mountain Cottages offer you the chance to explore the fascination of the fells or to simply relax, unwind, enjoy the clear mountain air and watch the quietly grazing Herdwick sheep, beneath a stunning panorama of mountain peaks.

Sawyers, Carpenters, Millrace and Pelton Wheel are four inter-connecting cottages sleeping a combined total of 22 guests. Guests booking The Coppermines Mountain Cottages: Sawyers, Carpenters, Millrace and Pelton Wheel will have exclusive access to the cottages 4 hot tubs.

Next to the cottages is our magnificent, restored waterwheel. Proudly situated at the Mountain Cottages, this spectacular waterwheel looks all the more majestic in this dramatic mountain setting. Making The Coppermines Mountain Cottages the most unique and awe-inspiring setting for any Lake District holiday.

Sawyers Cottage

Ground floor
Entrance into the large sitting & dining room with log fire, colour TV, DVD/CD player, etc. This room enjoys fantastic open views down the Coppermines Valley through front French door which can be fully opened to appreciate the views. The dining table can also be extended substantially for large groups.

Off the sitting room and dining area is a small country kitchen in oak with dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer.

First floor
Bedroom 1 - king size bed (or twin 2'6" single beds) valley views and en-suite shower room with WC.
Bedroom 2 - four single beds and valley views
Bedroom 3 - king size bed (or twin 2'6" single beds) with en-suite shower room & WC.

Separate bathroom with shower & separate WC.

Carpenters Cottage

Ground floor
Slate floored hallway which leads into the cosy and rustic sitting & dining room with log fire, Sky colour TV, DVD/CD player, etc. From the sitting room guests can look out towards the Old Man of Coniston. Off the sitting & dining area is the ample kitchen area with dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer & washer/drier. The kitchen offers fantastic views down the valley towards Coniston.

Millrace Cottage

Small hallway with slate floor which leads into the open plan kitchen, sitting room & dining area. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer & washer/dryer. The snug sitting room enjoys a log fire, TV, DVD/CD player.

First floor
Bedroom 1 - king size bed (or twin 2'6" single beds) & en-suite shower room with WC.

Pelton Wheel Cottage

Ground floor
From the front door you immediately enter the cottage kitchen with dishwasher, electric double cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer & washing machine.

From the kitchen access is gained into the cosy and snug sitting room & dining area with log fire, colour TV, DVD/CD player and views towards the Old Man of Coniston.

First floor
Bedroom 1 - king size bed (or twin 2'6" single beds) and views towards the Old Man of Coniston & small en-suite shower room & WC.

Second floor
Steep winding stairs up to -
Bedroom 2 - king size bed (or twin 2'6" single beds) & en-suite bathroom with shower & WC.

Outside
A total of four hot tubs available for your exclusive use next to the cottages.

Please note open fells surround the cottages and livestock graze here. Due to the open nature of the fells we advise that small children and pets are supervised at all times.

Travelling with a dog?
We can offer free use of a 1 acre field in Coniston village, perfect for off the lead running, walking, training and playing. Use by arrangement only. Please contact the office for availability.

Bedding, towels, oil fired central heating, electricity, mains pressure hot water system, Starlink Broadband Internet, hot tub, initial logs for the fire.

Hot Tubs
You will have exclusive use of 4 hot tubs for the duration of your stay. We aim to prepare all hot tubs ready for guest arrival, however for the benefit of all users we must comply with very high Health & Hygiene standards when servicing and maintaining our hot tubs. In the event of the hot tub needing a full service following a departure, we cannot guarantee the water in the hot tub will be hot enough for use the night of your arrival.

Property Notes
Please note that this cottage is situated within a mountain environment and as such, care and consideration must be given on approach to the cottage.

Cottages are reached by a road of pinnel stone construction, little changed from its original Victorian appearance, suitable for most vehicles except the lowest of sports cars.

For Sat-Navs follow the post code LA21 8HX, once you reach Coniston centre please ensure you take the small road between the Black Bull Inn and the Co-op.

Three other cottages, Fellside Cottage, No 4 Irish Row and Slater Bob's, sleeping 2, 3 and 4 guests respectively are located around 500 yards further down the valley.

The Coppermines Mountain Cottages are located within the spectacular Coppermines Valley, near Coniston, Lake District. They are surrounded by mountains, crags, rivers and waterfalls and are truly an incredible setting for any Lake District holiday. Walking, hiking, climbing, cycling, wild swimming - it's available direct from your front door.

Coniston village is an excellent centre for outdoor enthusiasts, with some superb climbing, walking, water sports, fishing and cycling to be had all year round.

For cycling enthusiasts there are some fantastic trails to be found in the area and the delights of Grizedale Forest are only a short ride away. For runners of all abilities the Lakeland Trail series visits Coniston yearly offering 5k, 10k, marathon and half marathon options. A favourite events amongst visitors and locals is the annual Coniston 14, 13.9 miles of scenic beauty as runners of all ages lap Coniston Water. For endurance athletes the Montane Lakeland 100 & Lakeland 50 events depart from Coniston each July and a whole host of water sports can be enjoyed down at the boating centre. Lastly for those who come to walk the area, no trip to Coniston would be complete without a climb up the Old Man of Coniston.

However for those who like to keep their feet firmly on the ground there's The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell and on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood the Victorian home of philosopher John Ruskin, where regular events and art courses are held. Should you just wish to relax during your time here then the tremendous landscape of cascading waterfalls, streams, lakes and mountains should help you switch off from modern life. Delights such as Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest are nearby and prove to be ever popular with visitors of all ages.

Thank you for an amazing stay in a magical place. Our wedding was perfect. The cottages were fabulous, the scenery magnificent and we had everything we needed.
