The Benefits of a Hike from Your Cottage Door

Each year families, friends, and couples spend their holidays in Lakeland by booking a Lake District Cottage. This has some amazing advantages, not least acting as a comfortable home from home that can be used as a base to explore some amazing lakes and fells.

Lake District Cottage Holiday

Not only does it have spectacular scenery and quaint pubs and restaurants, but it’s also one of the most family-friendly destinations in the UK.
What most people may not realise is that there are some amazing views and trails just outside their cottage front door. Rather than heading out in the car when you want to go for a hike, it’s often much easier and more fun to explore what’s nearby and the Coppermines has a great range of cottages where you can do just that!

Why Take a Hike from Your Cottage Door?

Driving can be a chore especially if you are holidaying during a busy period or visiting a popular location like the Lake District over the summer. The last thing you want once you have settled into your cottage is to spend more time stuck in traffic.
The good news is that you don’t have to drive at all. It will also mean that you cut down on CO2 emissions from your car and help save the planet. A place as beautiful and popular as the Lake District can get busy in high season so beat the crowds and discover the lesser known fells and walks that you can find from your cottage door.

Most Lake District cottages are in country areas so there’s normally a pretty wide choice of walks both short and long you can take advantage of. You’ll be surprised how many circular routes you’ll be able to discover that lead you right back to your cottage door. You can quickly jump into the shower once your hike is finished rather than have to sit in a hot car for the journey home.

The Coppermines even has a range of Mountain Cottages to get you up and away from everyone else with only the local fells to explore. Take a look at No4. Coppermines here

How to Find Local Hikes

The location of your holiday cottage is going to important. It’s a good idea to have this in mind when you look for somewhere to book. Don’t just take into account the amenities but have a quick search online to find what kinds of hikes are available right outside the door.

Areas like the Lake District, for instance, have hundreds of walks that you don’t even need to drive to. Whether you want to get up on the fells or take an evening to wander around one of the many lakes, there’s always a great view and plenty to do and see.
With a Lake District cottage rental, you can dictate what you do during your holiday. If you have a pet in tow that you want to take on a long hike, a cottage is an ideal choice and much less stress than a hotel.
