A spacious, heated entrance porch with useful bench seating makes for the perfect place for coats, boots and wet-weather gear. Venturing further into this property leads you to the central entrance hall. From here guests can access the exceptional country cottage kitchen. The kitchen has been created to an exceptional standard with slate flagstone flooring and modern appliances including Miele double oven, induction hob, dishwasher, integrated fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and Kitchen Aid kettle and 4 slice toaster. There is even a large wall-mounted Smart TV should you wish for entertainment whilst you cook. The kitchen is fully equipped to accommodation its guests every culinary need and is finished with a breakfast bar for 4, the perfect place to enjoy a hearty, home-cooked breakfast before a day’s exploring the area.
Off the kitchen there’s a handy W.C. with sink while double doors to the rear lead on to the terraced garden with open countryside views.
Back across the central hallway lead to the cottage’s dining room and lounge. A circular dining table for 4 provides the perfect setting for your evening meals. Inviting window seats offer comfortable spaces to soak up the views looking out across the pretty garden and splendid countryside. The living space features plump sofas and a huge Smart TV complete with Freeview and Blu-ray player. Torver and the nearby Crake & Woodland Valleys, are beautiful and tranquil areas well worth visiting and exploring. The landscapes here have changed little over time, with farming and forestry still very much in evidence. In springtime the nearby woods that dot the landscape are carpeted with wild garlic and scented bluebells, and is a place where the wildlife and bird song of the Lake District can be truly appreciated. Torver is home to a great pub, popular cafe and enjoys easy access to both the lake for water sports and the fells for walking.
The nearby village of Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. The village is packed with friendly pubs, local shops and lively cafes and there is incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and more. There are also plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming including the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with its stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. For cyclists, there are spectacular off-road mountain biking trails including those at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as some stunning road routes through some of the country's most beautiful scenery.
For those who enjoy a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell is a must visit. While on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood, the Victorian home of John Ruskin, where visitors can explore the historic house and vibrant arts centre and enjoy some delicious food from The Terrace cafe with its breath-taking lake and mountain views.
The wider Lake District area is also very easily accessible from Coniston, with popular destinations such as Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere just a short drive away.
