Cragg Cottage takes top prize at Cumbria Tourism Awards 2023

COPPERMINES NEWS – 6th JULY, 2023

Cragg Cottage, Torver, Coniston is named WINNER for Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year at The Cumbria Tourism Awards for 2023

Coppermines cottage Cragg Cottage has been named a winner at the Cumbria Tourism Awards for 2023. Cragg Cottage in Torver, near Coniston, took the top prize in the Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year category. The Cumbria Tourism Awards are held annually to celebrate the county’s diverse tourism industry which this year culminated at a prestigious black tie ceremony at Castle Green Hotel, Kendal on 5th July.

The winning property, Cragg Cottage, was recognised for offering exceptional holiday accommodation to its guests including luxury interiors, high specification modern conveniences and a private hot tub with open countryside views.

Phil Johnston, Managing Director and Founder of the The Coppermines Lakes Cottages says:

“We are delighted that Cragg Cottage has been recognised with this prestigious award. It is testament to the dedication of the cottage’s owners, Jane and Simon, who have stopped at nothing during the extensive renovations, to ensure Cragg Cottage delivers a truly memorable holiday of the highest quality for its guests. The Cumbria Tourism Awards recognise Cumbrian businesses which are offering fantastic quality, service & care to visitors and it is a honour to be recognised in such a competitive and hard-fought category as self-catering.”

In a first for The Coppermines Lakes Cottages, 2023 saw not one but TWO of our properties short-listed for the self-catering award with Mill Pool Barn, also in Torver, missing out on the top spot by the narrowest of margins, but itself being recognised for its commitment to sustainability coupled with outstanding guest facilities.

Cragg Cottage will now have the opportunity to go on to represent the county at the national Visit England Awards next year.
