Close to all the village amenities stands a tall and thin Victorian terrace, Dixon Ground. Perfectly positioned on the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, and on the foothills of the crags behind, these terraced cottages are well situated for walkers, bikers and explorers keen to get straight onto the fells.

Number 2 is a three storey cottage nestled within the terrace, up the gravelled path. The house comfortably sleeps 4 people across 2 bedrooms, with the added flexibility of beds for 6, making it perfect for couples, families or small groups of friends. If you have a bigger group however, you could also take over Number 1 Dixon Ground next door which will sleep an extra 10 in 4 bedrooms, as well as Number 4 Dixon Ground, two doors up, which sleeps an extra 4, thus extending the sleeping capacity and allowing groups of up to 18 to be comfortably accommodated across 8 bedrooms. Ideal for those big family get-togethers and celebrations.

Though centrally located, with a pub within rolling distance, the Dixon Ground Cottages are pleasantly peaceful. For keen walkers there is access to the spectacular Coniston fells direct from the front door. In essence Number 2 would suit families with children of any age or couples looking to relax and enjoy the local area.

Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. The village is packed with friendly pubs, local shops and lively cafes and there is incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and more. There are also plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming including the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with its stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. For cyclists, there are spectacular off-road mountain biking trails including those at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as some stunning road routes through some of the country's most beautiful scenery.

For those who enjoy a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell is a must visit. While on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood, the Victorian home of John Ruskin, where visitors can explore the historic house and vibrant arts centre and enjoy some delicious food from The Terrace cafe with its breath-taking lake and mountain views.

The wider Lake District area is also very easily accessible from Coniston, with popular destinations such as Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere just a short drive away.

In short, Coniston offers everything you could possibly want of a Lake District holiday - all right on your doorstep.

Lovely cottage in an excellent location. Great for starting The Old Man & Coppermines walks and right next to The Sun Hotel for a pint or two! Fantastic.

We had an absolutely lovely time at 2 Dixon Ground. We've stayed here before many years ago and lots of other Coppermines cottages regularly. It was lovely and spacious, cosy and comfortable.

Ideally located in a quiet street, close to village amenities. We would definitely stay again. We had a great stay, just wish we had a few more days to explore the area further. Next time!

We had a lovely stay. 2 adults, 2 children and a dog. The location was perfect. We walked the old man of Coniston, did an amazing wood walk and enjoyed the lake. Loved that we could walk everywhere.

We loved our stay at 2 Dixon ground, a fantastic cottage that feels right at home. Mountain View’s, walks from your doorstep. A pub next door?! What more could you ask for. What a lovely little village with great shops and such a handy place to stay in, we will be returning no doubt this summer to make more memories at this amazing little cottage.

What a lovely stay! Just perfect for us. Great location and several walks on our doorstep which was convenient for us without having to use our car. The cottage is cosy and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay - even the rain didn't spoil our week. Highly recommended. We are already looking it to book it again for next year. Thank you or making our stay wonderful.

Given the past 18 months we could have not wished for a better holiday. We are not new to Coniston, we've stayed there the past 3 years but it was our first time at Coppermines. The cottage was idyllic and we could have lived there permanently. I haven't got any negatives to say about this or the company - 5 star.
