A cosy & comfortable village home in a central yet quiet location with popular walks such as Coniston Old Man on the doorstep. With characterful beams, traditional log fire and lovely modern kitchen, 2 Dixon Ground is the perfect blend of the old and the new.

Close to all the village amenities stands a tall and thin Victorian terrace, Dixon Ground. Perfectly positioned on the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, and on the foothills of the crags behind, these terraced cottages are well situated for walkers, bikers and explorers keen to get straight onto the fells.

Number 2 is a three storey cottage nestled within the terrace, up the gravelled path. The house comfortably sleeps 4 people across 2 bedrooms, with the added flexibility of beds for 6, making it perfect for couples, families or small groups of friends. If you have a bigger group however, you could also take over Number 1 Dixon Ground next door which will sleep an extra 10 in 4 bedrooms, No. 3 Dixon Ground sleeps another 5 guests across 3 bedrooms, thus extending the sleeping capacity and allowing groups of up to 19 to be comfortably accommodated across 9 bedrooms. Ideal for those big family get-togethers and celebrations.

Though centrally located, with a pub within rolling distance, the Dixon Ground Cottages are pleasantly peaceful. For keen walkers there is access to the spectacular Coniston fells direct from the front door. In essence Number 2 would suit families with children of any age or couples looking to relax and enjoy the local area.

Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. The village is packed with friendly pubs, local shops and lively cafes and there is incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and more. There are also plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming including the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with its stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. For cyclists, there are spectacular off-road mountain biking trails including those at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as some stunning road routes through some of the country's most beautiful scenery.

For those who enjoy a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell is a must visit. While on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood, the Victorian home of John Ruskin, where visitors can explore the historic house and vibrant arts centre and enjoy some delicious food from The Terrace cafe with its breath-taking lake and mountain views.

The wider Lake District area is also very easily accessible from Coniston, with popular destinations such as Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere just a short drive away.

In short, Coniston offers everything you could possibly want of a Lake District holiday - all right on your doorstep.

I can't rate this host enough, after things didn't quite go to plan it couldn't have been rectified any quicker. The location is perfect if you love the great outdoors. Access to the hills couldn't be any nearer and Coniston Lake is a 10 minute walk away. We had a lovely stay and would happily return.

Brilliant stay. Great location with everything we needed in the house to make us comfortable. The shower head was broken (but you couldn't tell by looking at it) and the key was stiff in the lock and it was fixed straight away after a quick message. Quieter than other parts of the Lakes which was perfect for us, great pubs/food choices all within a short walk. Would definitely book again

The cottage was in a great location. The tickets for the Ruskin Museum were a great idea and the logs were welcome. We were happy with the price and will come again. The parking was good and the path up to the Old Man is brilliant.

We had an absolutely lovely time at 2 Dixon Ground. We've stayed here before many years ago and lots of other Coppermines cottages regularly. It was lovely and spacious, cosy and comfortable.

What a lovely stay! Just perfect for us. Great location and several walks on our doorstep which was convenient for us without having to use our car. The cottage is cosy and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay - even the rain didn't spoil our week. Highly recommended. We are already looking it to book it again for next year. Thank you or making our stay wonderful.

Given the past 18 months we could have not wished for a better holiday. We are not new to Coniston, we've stayed there the past 3 years but it was our first time at Coppermines. The cottage was idyllic and we could have lived there permanently. I haven't got any negatives to say about this or the company - 5 star.
