Cow Barn, Duddon Valley, Lake District

The Duddon Valley is a popular wild-swimming spot for locals “in-the-know”. The River Duddon, which runs the length of this stunning valley, offers some incredible places for a dip in its refreshing, clean water.

There are places for swimming along the length of this river. Wide grassy verges offer places for picnic sand a dip.

At Ulpha Bridge, there are some deep pools for swimming and further up, close to the hamlet of Seathwaite, you can swim amongst huge boulders in almost tropical, green and lush surroundings. Sitting alongside Church Beck in Coniston Village, following the river upstream leads you to the first of several beautiful waterfalls you can visit from your door.
